Fact Checked: Did RaGa win by the highest margin in Wayanad?

Date:

After the Lok Sabha results came out, a post went viral which claims that Rahul Gandhi won by a margin of 8.5 lakh votes in Wayanad.

The caption of the post reads- “कांग्रेस के राष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष श्री राहुल गांधी जी वायनाड से रिकार्ड 8 लाख 54 हजार 297 वोट से जीते। 542 सीटो मे से ये सबसे बड़ी जीत है”

We found more pictures which claim the same.

FACT CHECK

When the NewsMobile fact check team came across the post we found that the claim is fake.

On checking the official ECI website, we found that Rahul Gandhi got 7,06,367 votes, while his closest competitor, P.P. Suneer got 2,74,597 votes which makes the difference 4,31,770.

It proves that the claim that Rahul won by the difference of 8,54,297 votes is fake.

Moreover, we found that BJP’s  CR Patil from Navsari in Gujarat registered the highest victory margin of 6,89,668 votes in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

Hence, it proves that the claims are FAKE.
