Irfan Pathan asked to leave Kashmir amid security concern

Date:

Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan on Sunday asked to leave the Kashmir Valley amid the security concerns.

Apart from Pathan, several others cricketers asked to leave the Valley. This comes two days after the Jammu and Kashmir government issued an advisory to Amarnath Yatra pilgrims and tourists asking them to curtail their stay in the Valley, citing intelligence inputs about terror threats.

Pathan was in Srinagar to oversee the trials for the U-16 (Vijay Merchant Trophy) and U-19 (Cooch Behar Trophy) and prune the list of probables. The ongoing Under-16 and Under-19 trials in Srinagar have been postponed due to prevailing security situation in the Valley.

A senior official of the JKCA confirmed the same and said it was due to security reasons. Preparations for the season would commence once the security concern was taken care of.
