Mamata Banerjee and Amit Shah holding ‘Jai Sri Ram’ poster? Here’s the truth

A picture of West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee with Home minister Amit Shah is circulating on social media in which they can be seen holding a white envelope with ‘Jai Shri Ram’ written on it.


At the time of filing the report, the above post was shared by more than 1,500 Facebook users.

Most of these posts were made in Bengali, accused Mamata Banerjee of being a hypocrite.

FACT CHECK 

When NewsMobile fact-checked the image, we found that it is photoshopped. 

On putting the Image through Reverse Image Search, we found many news reports that the two politicians holding an envelope, but nothing was written on it.

The picture was taken on Sep 19, 2019, when Mamata Banerjee met Amit Shah at his office New Delhi’s North Block.



In a statement, West Bengal CM said ” I handed over a letter to him (HM Amit Shah), told him that of the 19 Lakh people left out of NRC, many are Hindi speaking, Bengali speaking & local Assamese. Many genuine voters have been left out. This should be looked into. I submitted an official letter”

On comparing the Fake vs Real collage, we can clearly see that ‘Jai Sri Ram’ is not written on the envelope.

This proves that the viral post is morphed using photoshop Software.
