Fact Checked: Viral video of child sacrifice is being shared with false narrative

A video of a procession is being shared online where a child’s head can be seen on a cot while people around him celebrate with one man even having a sword in his hands.

The claim attached to the video states that the child was sacrificed as per a religious tradition and people are celebrating the occasion.

“ये कौनसा धर्म है भाया जिसने एक मासूम बच्चे की बली चढ़ा दी और सारे लोग खुशियां मना रहे हैं
sayad ye sab log musalman lagte he” the text read.

At the time of filing the report, the above post around 14,000 shares.

 

FACT CHECK

When NewsMobile fact-checked the video, we found the claim to be fake.

We ran a search and found that this video went viral back in 2018 also but with a different claim and was debunked by several media outlets. According to a media report, the video is from Rajasthan.

We investigated further and found the tweet by Rajsthan Police rubbishing the claim attached to the viral video.

As per the tweet, the video is of a magic show that takes place every year during Navratri in village Khakhla, Rajasthan.

We also found a statement by Bhilwara Police clarifying that the boy is alive.

The above information proves that the video is being circulated with a false claim.
