Nirbhaya gang rape convicts to be finally hanged on March 20 at 0530 am at Tihar Jail.
The curative petition of Pawan Gupta has been rejected and the second mercy petition of both Pawan and Akshay have not been entertained by the President Ram Nath Kovind. It is now a final decision that the four convicts will be hanged at 5:30 am March 20.

Earlier, President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday rejected the second mercy petition filed by 2012 Delhi gang-rape case convicts Pawan Gupta and Akshay Thakur, making it amply clear that the hanging will happen on Friday.
As per the Delhi court warrant, the four convicts will be hanged at 5:30 am tomorrow, as per the death warrant issued by a Delhi court.
A six-judge bench, headed by Justice NV Ramana, turned down Pawan Gupta’s plea. The curative petition is the last judicial resort available to a litigant for redressal of grievances.
Authorities in Delhi’s Tihar jail have begun the final preparations as less than 16 hours are left for the hanging of these convicts. A dummy hanging was also conducted to ensure the process is carried out as per plan. All the four convicts will be hanged simultaneously inside jail number 3.
A team of jail officers along with the hangman, Pawan Jallad inspected the hanging courtyard inside jail 3 again on Thursday morning.
The convicts are lodged separately in jail number 3 and are guarded round the clock.
The four men had assaulted and gang raped a 23-year-old medical student inside a moving bus in South Delhi on December 16, 2012. Nirbhaya, as she widely came to be known, died a few days later at a Singapore hospital.
