COVID-19 | Top 10 developments in India this Sunday morning

India reported 410 deaths and the highest single-day spike of 19,906 new COVID-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people infected with coronavirus to 5,28,859. The death toll now stands at 16,095.

According to the Health Ministry Sunday morning update, there are now 2,03,051 active cases and 3,09,713 people have cured/discharged/migrated.

Here are the top 10 developments in India this morning:

1. Delhi reported 2948 new COVID-19 cases and 66 deaths on Saturday. The total number of cases stands at 80,188, including 28,329 active cases, 49,301 recovered/discharged cases and 2,558 deaths.

2. Maharashtra reported 167 deaths and 5,318 new COVID-19 positive cases. Out of these 167 deaths- 86 occurred in the last 48 hrs and rest 81 are from the previous period. The total number of cases in the state stands at 1,59,133: State Health Department

3. Karnataka reported 918 new COVID-19 positive cases and 11 deaths. Total positive cases stand at 11,923 and the death toll is at 191: State Health Department

4. Meanwhile, people coming from Maharashtra will be placed in 7-day institutional quarantine followed by 7-day home quarantine in Karnataka. People coming from other states will need to undergo 14-day home quarantine: Karnataka government

5. In the last 24 hours, 18 deaths and 615 COVID-19 positive cases reported in Gujarat. State tally has risen to 30,773, including 22,417 cured/discharged and 1,790 deaths: State Health Department

6. 204 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, 13 from Jammu division and 191 from Kashmir division. Total number of cases stands at 6966 including 2,648 actives cases, 4,255 recoveries and 93 deaths: Govt of J&K

7. 543 new COVID-19 positive cases reported in Haryana on Saturday, taking the total number of positive cases to 13,427. A total of 8472 people have recovered/discharged till date. The total death toll rises to 218: State Health Department

8. West Bengal recorded 521 new COVID-19 positive cases and 13 deaths, taking the total number of cases in the State to 16,711 and death toll to 629. Number of active cases stands at 5,293: State Health Department

9. The total number of samples tested up to 27 June is 82,27,802 of which 2,31,095 samples were tested yesterday: Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)

10. Uttarakhand recorded 66 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total number of cases to 2,791: State Health Department
