Fact check: Video Of Clash From Rajasthan Falsely Linked To Protest Over Farm Laws; Here’s The Truth

Date:

A video of stones being pelted on some vehicles is being shared on social media with a claim that the video is from Haryana, where the convoy of BJP leader Uday Singh was attacked.

The post also links this video with the ongoing farmers’ protest, stating that people were expressing their anger against the new Farm laws.

“#हरियाणा #किसान बिल के विरोध में #रुझान आने लगे..पहला #भूमि सूजन #भाजपा विधायक #उदय सिंह सिंह का “””””””””””””जोरदार स्वागत किसानों द्वारा..” the Facebook post read.

Here’s the link to the above post.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found the claim to be false.

We extracted keyframes of the video and found that a report by Zee Rajasthan featuring the same video was uploaded by an user on YouTube.

“#Jalore #सेड़िया गांव में निर्दलीय व कांग्रेस प्रत्याशी आपस में भिड़े..! #Sanchore,” the title of the YouTube video uploaded on November 29, 2020 read.

We then searched the YouTube channel of Zee Rajasthan for the original report and found that it was streamed live on November 27, 2020. The report can be seen at 18:34 min of the video.

According to the report, the video is from Jalore, where a clash broke out between two groups (Congress candidate and an independent candidate) during the Panchayat Election of the Sarnau Panchayat Samiti in Jalore district, Rajasthan

The report also stated that the two groups pelted stones at each other, breaking the glass of the Congress candidate’s car and causing minor injuries to two supporters.

We also found an article by Zee News dated November 28, 2020, on the same incident.

This proves that the video is NOT related to farmers’ protest.

Moreover, when we searched for BJP leader Uday Singh, we did not find any current BJP leader by the name of Uday Singh who is a representative from Haryana.

Hence, from the above fact check, it is clear that the video is being circulated with a misleading and false claim.
