Date:

In the backdrop of clashes that broke out between protesting farmers and Delhi Police during the tractor rally on Republic Day, a picture of bullock cart rally is being shared on social media. The picture is being linked to the ongoing farmers’ protest against the three contentious farm laws.

The caption of the picture read, ‘ये थप्पड़ है गोदी मीडिया के मुंह पर… देश के सबसे पिछड़े गांवों तक भी किसानों का इन्कलाब पहुंच गया है.. #किसान_एकता_जिंदाबाद‘.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above picture and found that the claim attached to it is false.

When we looked at the picture closely, we noticed the text on placards. One of the placards read ‘जिला युवा कांग्रेस बालाघाट’, whereas on the other ‘ पेट्रोल हुआ…’ was written.

With that information, when we put the picture through Reverse Image Search along with some keywords, we came across a news report published by Patrika on September 13, 2018, featuring the same picture.

According to the news repprt, Youth Congress had taken out a bullock cart rally in Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh, to protest against the increase in petrol and diesel prices.

The rally was also covered by  Nayi Duniya on September 14, 2018.

On September 13, 2018, Madhya Pradesh Youth Congress also shared a post on Facebook regarding this bullock cart rally. In these pictures too ‘जिला युवा कांग्रेस बालाघाट’ can be seen on the boards.

Hence, the above information proves that the picture is old and is not related to the ongoing farmers’ protest.
