A video in which a man can be seen electrocuting a minor girl with small shocks is being widely shared on social media claiming that it shows a Muslim man in Pakistan forcefully converting a Hindu child to Islam.
The video is shared on Facebook with the caption, “#Horrible Video From KPK, Pakistan Showing Some Jihadis Torturing A Minor #Hindu Girl By Giving Her Electric Shocks & Forcing Her To Convert to #Islam.”

NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim and found it to be MISLEADING.
Using the InVid Tool, we extracted keyframes from the viral video and performed a Reverse Image Search. This search directed us to an article published by a Pakistan-based fact-checking website that stated, “Video shows alleged Pir (faith healer) performing an exorcism, not forced conversion.”
Taking a cue from this video, we searched further and found a news report published on August 10, 2020, which stated that “Peshawar police have arrested a fake pir who was electrocuting children in an exorcism attempt.”
The article also embedded a tweet published by the Peshawar police on August 9, 2020, that can be roughly translated in English to, “Fake pir arrested for electrocution. Following the fake Pir video that went viral on social media, Peshawar police in an operation in the Achini Bala area arrested the fake Pir Muhammadullah son of Qudratullah. Further investigation has been started by registering an FIR.”

Searching further, we found another news report published by The News, a Pakistani news portal, on August 10, 2020, that stated, “A fake faith healer was arrested on the charges of torturing the people brought to him in the limits of Sarband Police Station. An official said that Pir Mohammadullah was arrested by police after he was found torturing and electrocuting a young girl in a video. The official said the accused was arrested in a raid.”
Thus, it is evident from the above information that the viral video does not show a Muslim man forcefully converting a Hindu girl to Islam. Therefore, the viral claim is misleading.
