BJP Announces Jagdeep Dhankhar As NDAs Vice-Presidential Candidate

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday announced Jagdeep Dhankhar as the NDA’s Vice Presidential candidate ahead of the elections to be held in August. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and praised the NDA-backed Vice Presidential candidate. He added that “Kisan Putra Jagdeep Dhankhar Ji is known for his humility. He brings with him an illustrious legal, legislative and gubernatorial career. He has always worked for the well-being of farmers, youth, women, and the marginalized. Glad that he will be our VP candidate.” 

He further added that Governor Dhankhar has “excellent knowledge of our Constitution”. He further added that he is also well-versed with legislative affairs. 

PM Modi further added that “I am sure that he will be an outstanding Chair in the Rajya Sabha & guide the proceedings of the House with the aim of furthering national progress.”

Jagdeep Dhankhar is currently serving as the Governor of West Bengal. He hails from Village Kithana, Jhunjhunu District of Rajasthan. He was designated as a Senior Advocate by the High Court of Rajasthan. He was also elected as the President of the Rajasthan High Court Bar Association back in 1987. 

He joined Lok Sabha from Jhunjhunu Constituency in the year 1989. He further became the chairman of a Parliamentary Committee in 1990. 

The BJP President JP Nadda while announcing the name said that Jagdeep Dhankhar is a “Kisan putra” and has proved to be a ‘people’s governor’.
