Nation Flags Fly At Half-Mast As India Mourns Demise Of Queen Elizabeth II

New Delhi: India declared a day of state mourning on Sunday to pay respect to Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II who passed away on Thursday at the age of 96.

An official statement issued by the government added that “Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, passed away on September 8, 2022. As a mark of respect to the departed dignitary, the government of India has decided that there will be one day of state mourning on September 11 throughout India.”

The national flag was seen half-mast at various important government buildings including the Air Force Headquarters, Ministry of External Affairs and National Museum.

The government further added that no official program of entertainment will be conducted throughout the day of state mourning.
