Fact Check: 2016 Image of Ambanis with SRK Falsely Linked to Pathaan Screening

A picture of Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan with the Ambani family is doing the rounds on social media, claiming that they all watched the screening of Pathaan together.

The image was shared with the text: तुम लोग बायकॉट करते रहो थिएटर के बाहर वहाँ अंबानी परिवार शाहरुख़ के साथ पठान देख रहा है (English translation: You guys keep boycotting outside the theatre. And the Ambani family is watching Pathaan with Shah Rukh)

NewsMobile fact-checked the post, and found it to be false.

Putting the image through Google Reverse Image Search, we found the same image in an article on Rediff.com, dated May 05, 2016. As per the description, the image had been taken at the launch of Reliance Jio 4G, and credited to PTI. 

The same image was also shared by Financial Express in an article dated December 28, 2015. According to the report, the picture is from the launch of Reliance Jio 4G.

Scanning through the PTI archive, we found the same viral image.

Thus, it is clear that the picture in circulation is old.
