Fact Check: AI-Generated Picture Of Virat Kohli At Ayodhya Ram Mandir Ceremony Surfaces

A picture of cricketer Virat Kohli has surfaced on the internet. It is claimed that the picture shows the former Indian skipper at the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22.

The caption of one of the posts dated January 22, 2024 (Day of consecration ceremony)  with the picture read: “Today’s Best photo”

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above post and found that the picture in question is AI-generated.

Upon closely observing the picture we noticed that Kohli’s hands in the picture were distorted while the man beside him did not have a palm.

Taking a cue, on putting the image through Hive Moderation, a tool that detects AI-generated content revealed that the picture in question is 100% likely to be AI-generated.

While Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma were invited for the Ram Mandir ceremony, however, reports were suggesting that the cricketer did not attend the pran pratishtha of the Ayodhya Ram Temple.

With the above findings, it is established that the picture in question is not authentic as it is AI-generated.
