New Delhi: Cricketer Suresh Raina tied the nuptial knot on Friday night with childhood friend Priyanka Chaudhary in a private ceremony attended by family members and close friends, including a few of his team-mates, at a posh hotel in Delhi.
Bigwigs from politics and entertainment world, besides fellow cricketers of Indian team and Chennai Super Kings attended the ceremony.
Dwayne Bravo, Stephen Fleming, ICC Chairperson N Srinivasan,Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Sakshi Dhoni were also present at the wedding.
Sources said that both the families knew each other for a long time, since Raina’s and Priyanka’s father worked together at an ordinance factory at Murad Nagar. Later, Priyanka’s family shifted to Meerut.
Priyanka is an IT professional with a bank in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Several reports also said that she might give up her job and will stay in India after the marriage.
Sources said that Raina’s and Priyanka’s parents spoke a while back about the marriage, and it was finalised while Suresh was playing in Australia.
Her family hails from Baraut. She reportedly pursued her B.Tech from an engineering college at Ghaziabad and her brothers are also IT professionals working in Chennai and Noida.
Middle-order batsman Raina returned to the country with his teammates after the semi-final loss to Australia in the World Cup last week.
Raina is contracted with the Chennai Super Kings, who are scheduled to kick-start their campaign in the eighth edition of Indian Premier League on April 9, barely six days after his wedding.
