Tourists flock to Taj balloon festival in Agra

The first edition of the three-day Taj Balloon Festival, supported by Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department, has proved to be a big hit with the tourists.

Fifteen hot air balloons carrying guests on board, could be seen lifting off from the PAC ground near the Circuit House in the city as part of the festival which began yesterday.

Despite the hazy conditions, the tourists who had a rare aerial glimpse of the Taj Mahal, said they had never had a more thrilling experience.

The organisers have planned concerts, lighted balloons and performances by famous musical bands in the evenings and the event will climax with a musical extravaganza on November 16, Tourist Officer Dinesh Kumar said.

The unique festival provides tourists a glimpse of the culture and heritage of the city against the backdrop of the monument.
