Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Sakshi Maharaj on Tuesday hit out at Uttar Pradesh MLA MLA Azam Khan for his comments on the Paris attacks.
The controversial leader said that his remarks were proof of his support to terrorists. He said that India is a very tolerant country and it shows from the way Indians feed snakes on the festival of Nag Panchami. Khan had earlier said that Friday’s devastating attacks in Paris were a reaction to French and American action in Iraq and Syria. The comments were slammed by both the BJP and the Congress, with the latter demanding that he be sacked.
Khan’s remarks had even attracted criticism from French ambassador to India, François Richier, who said that he was saddened by the remarks. However, Janata Dal (United) took umbrage to Sakshi Maharaj’s comments, saying that it will raise its voice against the hothead in the winter session of the Parliament.
“Today is the day to stand against terrorism. In this time, leaders should refrain from making such statements. Sakshi Maharaj is one such person to pollute the Parliament as well as national politics. His provocative speeches not only create malice but also create problems for his party. We will raise our voice against him in theParliament,” JD (U) leader K.C. Tyagi told ANI.
