Belur: An 18-year-old girl was on Monday set on fire allegedly by a jilted lover in Howrah district, police officials said.
The girl was doused with kerosene before a burning match-stick was thrown on her, allegedly by a local youth in her house on Monday morning.
Hearing the girl’s scream, locals rushed inside the house and took her to a nearby hospital.
The class XII student has suffered about 25 % burns, police said, adding, the youth, however, fled from the spot.
