HC orders fresh probe into cheating complaint against ex-DMK

MP Chennai, Aug 16 (PTI) The Madras High Court today ordereda fresh inquiry by police into a Rs three-crore cheatingcomplaint against former DMK MP J K Ritheesh. Setting aside the November 12, 2015 closure report filedin the case by an Inspector of the City Crime Branch (CCB),Justice P N Prakash directed the CCB Assistant Commissioner ofPolice to conduct a fresh probe into the allegations made bythe petitioner and take action in accordance with the law. He gave the order on a petition from city-based NRIAthinarayanan Subramanian alias Shiva who had alleged that hehad given Rs three crore to Ritheesh for business purpose. However, he did not get any contract as assured and whenhe sought the money back, the cheques allegedly issued byRitheesh bounced, the petitioner submitted. He said he paid the entire amount of Rs three crorethrough bank transfer. Stating that police had only given a CSR (communityservice register) number when he lodged the complaint inOctober 2015, he sought a direction for registration of anFIR. When the matter came up for hearing, counsel for the stategovernment conveyed that the complaint was closed on November12, 2015.
