Date:

Mohali, Sep 12 (PTI) Expelled Congress leader and PunjabLokhit Abhiyan chief Jagmeet Singh Brar today said he was notaverse to fighting Assembly polls on the AAP symbol even as heheaped praise on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. "I am prepared to fight polls on the AAP symbol if askedby the party," Brar, who was expelled from Congress in April, said. Blaming "conservative" politics practised by SAD andCongress for "halting" the progress of the state, he said hewill work hard to influence people’s mind against both therival parties. Brar’s Lokhit Abhiyan has offered "unconditional support"to the AAP’s campaign in Punjab ahead of the Assembly polls inthe state. On AAP’s prospects in Punjab, Brar said the party needs tostrengthen its reach in Doaba and Majha belt. Lauding Arvind Kejriwal, he said, "The Delhi ChiefMinister is a savior of democracy", and dismissed rivalparties allegation that he is an "anarchist". Asked about his plan to launch a "grand alliance" oflike-minded parties, he said it appears to be a "cluttered"idea at present. "Cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Kaur Sidhu’s wife isstill a BJP MLA. Sidhu and his wife have no clarity of mind,"he said. Sidhu, who quit the BJP last month after differences withtop leadership over alliance with the Akali Dal, has alreadylaunched a new party, Aawaaz-E-Punjab, with an eye on Punjabpolls. Brar took potshots at SAD and Congress for "playingpolitics" over the issue of Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal. "Punjab has no surplus water. We have nothing to spare forother states," he said, adding the riparian principle shouldbe followed for sharing water. He also stressed on the need for an agriculture policy ofthe state. Brar claimed he had "ample evidence" regarding Congressstate chief’s illegal assets abroad. PTI VJ GVS DVGVS
