Music-dance crossover celebrates Indo-Spanish relations

Date:

To commemorate sixty years of cordial relations between India and Spain, a sensational Flamenco night brought together Spanish music and dance in a cultural event.

With the majestic backdrop of Bikaner House, the artistes transported the audience to the rich land of Spain with their traditional Flamenco performance, which was organised by The Embassy of Spain and NGO Seher.

Guitarist Jose Almarcha and singer Juan Debel of Madrid band “Encuentro flamenco” enthralled the audience with Spanish classics as dancer Anabel Moreno tapped her feet to the melodious harmonies by the musicians.

‘Flamenco’ is a unique amalgamation of dance, music, singing, clapping and finger snapping all collaborated in one performance.

The evening also served as a prelude to the second edition of the Udaipur World Music festival which will be organised by Seher in February next year.

“All these events are an attempt to democratise culture and entertainment by bringing world class artistes to the masses, in the field of performing and visual arts,” Sanjeev Bhargava, founder of Seher, said.

The three-day-festival will bring around hundred global artistes and ensembles from over 12 countries including Spain, Italy, France and India among others.

“The festival serves as a hub of young folk artistes from across the world. After the success last year, we have decided to make the festival bigger by inviting more artistes from across the world,” Bhargava said.
