iPhone catches fire on plane

Date:

As Apple’s much awaited iPhone 6 release is inching closer the world’s top smartphone maker is grappling with safety concerns. An iPhone spontaneously burst into flame in an airplane on the runway, forcing all the passengers to evacuate.

The fire was detected while the plane was parked on the terminal and the passengers were evacuated after the flight was aborted

The plane with 150 passengers was leaving Prague, Czech Republic for Tel-Aviv, Israel. The flight was at the terminal and was ready to hit the runway when a girl’s mother noticed that she saw fire emanating from her handbag.

The bag immediately caught fire and soon there was panic in the cabin as the smoke began to spread all over. Indeed, this could result with smartphones being banned in flights as the risks clearly seem to over weigh the benefits. In the case of this accident the iPhone was apparently fully charged.

This is not the first time a smartphone has spontaneously ignited. Earlier this year, a Maine girl suffered a second-degree burn when her iPhone caught fire in her pocket. In July, a Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone also caught fire under a Texas girl’s pillow. She was not injured.
