India positions 26th in power rankings

India ranks 26th in the power rankingGetting Electricity” by the World Bank‘s “Ease of doing business” list. The ranking has immensely improved after 2015 where India was ranked 99.

According to the Union power ministry, it was noted that the ranking was given under 10 parameters which include the availability of electricity, number of procedures to obtain electricity and time taken by the consumer to get electricity.

According to the power ministry, the central government has taken appreciable efforts to improve the rankings from 2015. The reforms and decisions took by the center such as the installation of towers up to 500 KVA on double pole structure and waive inspectors approval for installation of 11KV poles.

CEA has facilitated the flow of electricity in the national capital Delhi by reducing the cost of new connections and reducing the tariff of LT connections up to 150 KV.

Electricity Giants like Tata power in Delhi and  Brihanmumbai Electric Supply & Transport (BEST) in Mumbai have online portals to ease the process for the consumers.

Electrification program by the government has already reached 13000 villages out of 18500 villages and is following its objective to cover 18000 villages in next 3 years.
