Third time is the charm? Imran Khan marries his spiritual adviser

Date:

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan married spiritual guide Bushra Maneka, as announced by his party on Sunday, ending weeks of speculation about this marriage.

Imran Khan, a cricketer-turned-politician, married Bushra Bibi (also known as Pinki Pir) in a simple ceremony held in Lahore, said the reports. The ceremony was held at Bushra Maneka’s brother’s home in Lahore.

Earlier this year, media was abuzz with reports of the PTI chief tying the knot for a third time with the lady he used to visit for spiritual guidance.

In a move to defend himself over the marriage controversy, the cricketer-turned-politician had tweeted, “For 3 days I have been wondering have I looted a bank; or money laundered bns in nation’s wealth; or ordered a model-town-like killing spree; or revealed state secrets to India? I have done none of these but discovered I have committed a bigger crime: wanting to get married.”

Bushra Maneka, who is in her 40s, is from the Wattoo clan, of which the Manekas are a sub-clan. She was married to Khawar Farid Maneka, a senior customs official in Islamabad, the Dawn newspaper reported.
