1. Tearaway, an awesome game about a messenger on a mission for Play station Vita, won best family game. FIFA 14, a football game, won the sports category at the Bafta games awards. The Bafta video game awards are the gaming world’s version of the film awards.
2. Do you know The Great Lakes almost completely froze this year, with 90.5% of their total surface covered in ice. The five connected lakes are located on the border between Canada and the US, in northeastern North America.
3. A 12-year-old boy has invented a Braille printer (used to help the blind) that costs about $1,650 less than the ones that are available today. Shubham Banerjee, a grade seven student in Santa Clara, California, used a Lego Mindstorms kit and added $5 worth of parts to create what he calls a Braigo. His Braigo costs about $349 to make.
4. Last week, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors unanimously voted to ban the sale of plastic water bottles in all public buildings and outdoor spaces. The city is now the largest in the U.S. to take such a stand on bottled water. Plastic ruins our environment and efforts to rid our planet with the toxin is necessary.
5. Scientists have turned to the animal world for inspiration for their latest robot designs. They have made robots inspired by ants, bulls, cheetahs and even fleas.
