Cauvery issue heats up as actors join the protest

Tamil Nadu is all burning with the anger of non-formation of Cauvery Management Board by the Central government. Amidst all these protests what came as a surprise was that the actors today came to join the agitation.

Celebrities including Vijay, Surya, Sathyaraj, Sivakumara, Vishal, Nassar, Karthi and Sivakarthikeyan. The protest came as a result of Center’s failure in setting up the Cauvery Management Board even after the order of Supreme Court. Superstars-turned-politicians Kamal Hasan and Rajinikanth also joined other actors in the protest.

Earlier, on Friday a group of farmers partially buried themselves in the sand in Trichy to convey their message to the government. The deadline of March 29, given by the apex court, has already been missed by the government for the formation of the CMB. Since then the farmers have been protesting but there has not been any relief from the government.

After all these, Tamil Nadu government filed the Contempt of Court petition against the Centre which will be heard by the top court on Monday. Previously, the Supreme Court on February 16 had asked Centre to form the Cauvery board to maintain the sharing of water between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
