Date:

An 18-year-old boy, Rex Rajkumar Singh, has created history by taking 10 wickets in an innings.

Rex, a left-arm medium pulled it off in the four-day tournament for Under-19 players, Cooch Behar Trophy at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur on Tuesday, December 11. Singh took 10 wickets for just 11 runs. Out of 9.5 overs that he bowled, six were maidens.

Singh finished the match with a total haul of 15 wickets, having taken 5 for 33 in the first innings as well.

Rex’s game helped Manipur bowl Arunachal Pradesh out for a paltry 36 in their second innings, ICC reports states.

Manipur could only manage 122 in the first innings as opposed to 138 by Arunachal Pradesh. However, the latter managed to make only 36 runs in the second innings. Openers Shubham Chauhan and Johnson scored 32 and 23, respectively to complete the 55-run target with ease.

Subhash Gupte, Premangsu Mohan Chatterjee, Pradeep Sundaram, Debashish Mohanty and Sidak Singh are the only other players who had also taken 10-wicket hauls in an innings in the domestic circuit.

Meanwhile, only two bowlers have managed to achieve such a feat at the international level- Australia’s Jim Laker and former India captain Anil Kumble.
