Congress President Sonia Gandhi had to cut her big roadshow in Varanasi this Tuesday and started back to Delhi on account of falling ill. Reports suggest that she developed a high fever midway through her roadshow and was advised by doctors not to go ahead with the final leg of the conference, which involved an address to the public and a visit to the Kasi Viswanath temple. Before she called off her road trip, the Congress president stood in an SUV and was greeting party supporters who gathered on the streets to support her.
As soon as she complained of feeling uneasy, and took a break, there was confusion for some time with some party leaders waiting for her at the final venue and others saying she would return to Delhi.
The final decision was conveyed around 7 pm after she drove to the airport to take a special flight to Delhi.
As soon as the news of her ill health was confirmed, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted expressing his concern regarding the same.
Heard about Sonia ji’s ill health during her Varanasi visit today. I pray for her quick recovery and good health.
