This DMK poster for Jayalalithaa shows ‘Why India’s democracy rocks’

Chennai: The ‘Puratchi Thalaivi‘ Selvi J Jayalalithaa, the ‘Amma’ of millions, passed away on Monday night. The shocking news of her death was acquired with disbelief as millions of her adherents broke down in grief across the nation.

Despite experiencing a bitter history with the opposition, leaders of all parties condoled the death of Jayalalithaa, Amma’s arch rival DMK came up with a thoughtful response.

The DMK came with a poster that stated:

You aren’t there like a courageous opponent, you aren’t there now. Even if 1000 leaders had stood in front of us, a brave lady like you can never be replaced. In all, you wanted to be ahead of our leader, does it have to be even in death..
Will our leader ever find a fighting opponent like you? When are we ever gonna find a fearsome opponent like you? Without you we are in deepest sadness.

As the news went over ,a blanket of sadness and grief engulfed the nation. The DMK’s headquarter in Chennai was totally deserted, only a few number of policemen were standing over the locked gates of DMK’s HQ.

Former CM and DMK Supremo Karunanidhi who has also admitted to hospital for an allergy problem published a statement offering his condolences.

Karunanidhi stated: “I offer deep condolences on the passing away of Jayalalithaa, wishes of lakhs of her followers will make her immortal.”

His son and DMK leader M.K. Stalin said: “Deeply saddened by the demise of our CM Selvi Jayalalithaa. My deepest condolences to the party cadres & well wishers in this hour of grief.”

Despite being a bitter rival of DMK patriarch Muthuvel Karunanidhi, whose aspirations to hold the power of Tamil Nadu were thwarted by Amma’s remarkable victory in the 2016 assembly elections, the DMK has vowed its support and gave its sympathies following Amma’s demise.

Jayalalithaa’s death drew out a truthful shift in the proposed attitude of DMK leaders.

Well, that’s the power of Democracy.
