Curfew imposed in Anantnag town

Date:

Curfew has been imposed again in south Kashmir’s Anantnag town on Thursday , while it remained in force in three police station areas of Srinagar city in view of the separatists call for a protest march.

Normal life, meanwhile, remained affected in the Valley for the 76th straight day. The curbs also remain in force in three police station areas of downtown (interior city), a police official said.

He said the three police station areas of the summer capital where the curfew was in force are Nowhatta, M R Gunj, and Khanyar. The official said restrictions on the assembly of people under Section 144 CrPc continued to remain in force in the Valley. The separatists have called for a march to Anantnag and Srinagar uptown areas.

The separatists, who are spearheading the current agitation in the Valley, have extended the protest programme till September 29. They have announced a periodic relaxation in the strike on some days.

Meanwhile, normal life continued to remain disturbed in Kashmir for the 76th consecutive day due to restrictions and separatist-sponsored strike. Shops, business establishments and petrol pumps continued to remain shut in Srinagar and elsewhere in the Valley, while public transport was off the roads.
