Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke arrived in Kochi on Saturday to participate in the party’s protest against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The demonstration, titled ‘Jantar Mantar at Kochi’, began around 5:30 pm with the demand to withdraw the SIR exercise.

Speaking to the media, Dipke said he was attending the protest at the invitation of local organisers and actor-activist Prakash Raj.
He described it as a people’s protest and said the fight against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar would continue until India had an independent and impartial election system. He also alleged that votes were being deleted across the country.
The Kochi demonstration is the party’s first major protest since its leaders were arrested in Delhi last month while attempting to demonstrate at Jantar Mantar.
CJP co-convenors Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were arrested, while Dipke was detained ahead of a Tiranga March. Delhi Police also questioned party leaders in connection with protest-related cases.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh recently accused CJP activists of receiving funds from anti-India organisations and claimed Dipke received money from unauthorised sources.
CJP leaders rejected the allegations as baseless and questioned Singh over earlier meetings with the group alongside JP Nadda during its NEET protest.
Dipke also questioned the appointment of a former Keralam Chief Electoral Officer as the Chief Minister’s secretary, saying such moves raised concerns about electoral impartiality.
CJP leaders Afreen Nawaz and Vijay Reddy Mallangi are also expected to join the Kochi protest.
