New Delhi, Sep 1 (PTI) DDA today said it has decided toconvert surface parking at all its sports complexes intounderground ones, seeking to create space for furtheraugmenting such facilities. In a statement, Delhi Development Authority said it willinvite suggestions from public on usage of the vacant spacesand areas made available after development of undergroundparking. As per provisions of Master Plan 2001, DDA developedsports complexes in all the zones of Delhi. The first suchcomplex was opened at Siri Fort in 1989 and thereafter, 14other sporting facilities have been developed. DDA also has three mini-sports complexes at Munirka insouth Delhi, Kanti Nagar in east and Pratap Nagar in westernpart of the city. A total of nearly 50,000 members excluding casualmembers, guests, among others, utilise the sports facilitieson a daily basis, it said. As membership of some of these complexes is full andsportspersons or residents have been requesting it formembership, the DDA said the move would help address thisissue.
