New Delhi, Aug 26 (PTI) Accusing the Arvind Kejriwalgovernment of trying to "suppress" a purported ‘CAG report’,scores of state BJP workers today held a demonstration nearDelhi Assembly. Led by the party’s Delhi chief Satish Upadhyay, protestorsassembled near Chandgi Ram Akhara and marched towards theAssembly, but were stopped by the police near the ChiefMinister’s residence. Police also resorted to use of water cannon to dispersethe BJP workers when they tried to cross over the barricade,the city BJP said in a statement. Several demonstrators including Upadhyay, Leader ofOpposition in House Vijender Gupta were detained by police butwere later released. Upadhyay claimed that the purported ‘CAG report’ talks ofpublic money being "overspent on advertisements by the AAPgovernment". "We have submitted a memorandum to the Lt Governor in thisregard and this demonstration was a message to Chief MinisterArvind Kejriwal to stop misusing public money. The party willnow consider taking the matter to the court of law and soonlaunch a campaign to take the issue among the people," hesaid. Suspended BJP MLA O P Sharma tried to enter the Assemblypremises but was denied permission by the security personneldeployed there.
