Authorities have enforced Stage 3 restrictions under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) across Delhi-NCR as air pollution continues to worsen, with the Air Quality Index reaching 382, placing it in the ‘very poor’ category.
The AQI is now approaching the 400 mark, beyond which air quality falls into the ‘severe’ category. The latest measures aim to reduce dust pollution and harmful emissions across the region.
Under GRAP Stage 3, several construction and demolition activities have been prohibited across Delhi-NCR, including Noida, Ghaziabad and Gurugram.
The restrictions cover excavation, filling, drilling, piling, demolition, brickwork, masonry, road construction and major repair work. Activities such as painting, polishing, varnishing, welding, gas-cutting and cutting or grinding tiles and stones are also banned.
Additionally, the transportation and handling of dust-producing materials, including cement, sand, bricks, fly ash and crushed stone, have come under restrictions.
Vehicles carrying construction materials or demolition waste are also prohibited from travelling on unpaved roads.
The measures have been introduced to control construction-related dust and reduce pollution levels across the National Capital Region.
