Today marks the first death anniversary of Bollywood’s powerhouse Sushant Singh Rajput.
SSR, who was fondly known for portraying diverse roles with perfection, died by alleged suicide in his apartment on June 14, 2020. It’s been a year, but the nation still continues to feel the void left by the late actor.
On his death anniversary, we look back at the sequence of events that unfolded in Sushant Singh Rajput death case:
June 14, 2020: Actor Sushant Singh Rajput found dead at his Bandra apartment in Mumbai. Mumbai Police officials said that prima facie it appears to be a case of suicide. However, no suicide note was found.
June 15, 2020: Actor Kangana Ranaut accused a section of people in the film industry of not acknowledging Sushant Singh Rajput, debunked the theory of the actor committing suicide, talks about nepotism in Bollywood.

July 28, 2020: An FIR was registered against actor Rhea Chakraborty in Patna under various sections including abetment of suicide based on the complaint of Sushant’s father Krishna Kishor Singh.
July 29, 2020: A team of Bihar Police reached Mumbai to probe the matter.
Actor Rhea Chakraborty moved the Supreme Court seeking to transfer the investigation in the case registered against her in Patna to Mumbai claiming Bihar did not have jurisdiction in the matter.
July 30, 2020: Sushant Singh Rajput’s family filed a caveat in the Supreme Court on Rhea Chakraborty’s petition.
July 31, 2020: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) registered an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case.
August 3, 2020: IPS officer Vinay Tiwari, heading a police team from Patna probing into the case related to Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, was “forcibly quarantined” by the municipal authorities in Mumbai.

Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh said they are taking legal opinion to examine if Bihar Police can investigate the case.
August 5, 2020: The central government accepted the Bihar government’s recommendation for a CBI probe.
A PIL filed in the Supreme Court for a court-monitored CBI probe into the death of Disha Salian, actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s former Manager, claiming that both cases are inter-linked.
August 6, 2020: CBI registered a case against Rhea Chakraborty, Indrajit Chakraborty, Sandhya Chakraborty, Showik Chakraborty, Samuel Miranda, Shruti Modi and others over Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.
August 7, 2020: Actor Rhea Chakraborty questioned by the ED in Mumbai. Shruti Modi, former business manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, also questioned by the ED in Mumbai.
Bihar IPS Vinay Tiwari, who was probing the matter in Mumbai, leaves for Patna and accused the authorities in Mumbai of obstructing the probe in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case.
August 8, 2020: Father of the late actor, KK Singh filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court claiming Rhea Chakraborty’s plea has become ‘infructuous’ since the case was transferred to the CBI.
August 9, 2020: ED quizzed Rhea Chakraborty’s brother Showik in Mumbai.
August 10, 2020: Rhea Chakraborty filed a fresh plea in Supreme Court against the alleged “unfair media trial” against her in connection with the Sushant Singh Rajput death case.
August 11, 2020: Supreme Court reserved its judgment on Rhea’s plea and asked all parties to file their submissions.
August 19, 2020: The Supreme Court held that the FIR registered in Bihar’s Patna was legitimate and ordered CBI to investigate the case. Court also said Bihar government competent to recommend transferring the case to the CBI.
August 26, 2020: Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) registered case against Rhea Chakraborty after the drugs angle emerged while investigating the case. The agency then starts its probe.
August 28, 2020: Rhea Chakraborty appeared before the CBI for questioning in the case. She was interrogated by the agency for several hours.
September 4, 2020: NCB arrested Rhea’s brother Showik Chakraborty in a drugs case related to Sushant’s death. The ‘Raabta’ actor’s house manager Samuel Miranda was also arrested. Many drug peddlers were also arrested in the case.
September 23, 2020: NCB summoned Bollywood celebrities Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor and others for questioning.
October 5, 2020: The Medical Board of AIIMS Delhi submitted the medical investigation report of Sushant’s death to the CBI. It was reportedly clarified in the report that the actor had committed suicide.
October 7, 2020: Rhea Chakraborty came out on bail after spending 4 weeks in Byculla jail.

March 5, 2021: NCB filed a charge sheet which includes 12,000 pages in hard copy and around 50,000 pages in digital format reportedly. 33 people including Rhea Chakraborty, Showik Chakraborty, Samuel Miranda named in the charge sheet.

May 28, 2021: Sushant Singh Rajput’s friend and flatmate Siddharth Pithani was arrested by NCB in a drug case related to SSR’s death.
