New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has appealed to people across the country to participate in the November 1 Chalo Dilli Ramlila March, organised to protest alleged irregularities in the electoral roll revision.
He described the demonstration as an effort to defend democracy and the Constitution, urging participants not to be intimidated by police deployment or batons.
Don’t worry about the police, don’t worry about lathis – the BJP will not have the guts to try any of their antics.
Come march with us – we will walk together to protect the Constitution, to protect the Indian nation.
घबराने की जरूरत नहीं है।
I urge all student groups, regardless of your political affiliation – if you feel that India is under attack, if you feel you are under attack, your expression, your ideas, your way of thinking is under attack, come and join us.
It will be a fantastic march, and it’s a march for the soul of this country.
Looking forward to seeing all of you there.

In messages shared on X, Gandhi called on students and citizens, regardless of their political affiliations, to join the protest. He said the movement was intended to protect the country’s democratic values rather than serve the interests of any particular political party. Gandhi also expressed confidence that the BJP would not dare to disrupt the march.
Meanwhile, Delhi Police has prepared extensive security arrangements ahead of the Congress-led rally at Ramlila Maidan.
Authorities aim to prevent protesters from entering restricted areas, including Jantar Mantar, which is no longer designated as an official protest venue.
Police intelligence estimates that 40,000 to 50,000 people could attend the gathering. Around 3,000 personnel will be deployed, supported by nearly 150 high-definition and AI-enabled CCTV cameras. Temporary monitoring facilities and body-worn cameras will also be used.
One gate has been reserved for senior political leaders, while parking arrangements have been made near Rajghat and Mata Sundari College. Protesters will be directed to walk to the venue, with movement towards New Delhi restricted.
