New Delhi: Telugu Desam Party’s (TDP) Guntur MP-elect, Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, is set to become a part of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government, as confirmed by the N Chandrababu Naidu-led party on Sunday. The 48-year-old, a doctor by profession and one of the wealthiest candidates in the recent Lok Sabha elections, is poised to join the Modi 3.0 cabinet.
With declared family assets exceeding Rs 5,700 crore, Pemmasani emerged as the wealthiest candidate in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Contesting from the Guntur Lok Sabha constituency, he secured victory with an impressive 344,695 votes, succeeding the previous member, Galla Jayadev.
Former TDP MP and industrialist Jayadev Galla congratulated Pemmasani on his new role, stating, “Congratulations to Dr. @PemmasaniOnX on being confirmed as a Minister of State. Pemmasani’s journey towards this political milestone reflects his diverse background and accomplishments. Initially aspiring to become a doctor, he achieved the 27th rank in the EAMCET exam for the 1993-94 academic year, securing admission to Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad. Furthering his education, he pursued an MD in internal medicine at the Geisinger Medical Center in Pennsylvania, USA.
Beyond his medical career, Pemmasani is recognized for his entrepreneurial endeavors, having launched UWorld, a leading platform in online learning tools for high-stakes exams. The platform, catering to students globally, offers preparation resources for exams in a digital format, accessible across various devices.
As Pemmasani prepares to assume his responsibilities within the NDA government, his diverse background and wealth of experience are poised to make a significant contribution to the political landscape, both locally and nationally.
