Youth strangulated to death in honour killing, two held

Ghaziabad, Aug 28 (PTI) Loni police today arrested twopersons for allegedly killing a man who was reportedly in arelationship with the sister of one of them. According to DSP Anil Yadav, acting on a tip-off, policearrested Joginder and Monu, residents of Rajpur village, fromJawali canal at around 1 pm. During interrogation, the two confessed that on August 22,they had smothered Pramod alias Bali as the deceased was in arelationship with Joginder’s sister which he did not approveof. Joginder and Monu strangulated Bali with a leather beltbefore smashing his face with a brick so nobody couldascertain his identity. The duo then dumped the body in the forest and wentabsconding. Bali’s younger brother spotted the blood-stained slippersof the deceased while going to the field the next morning. He immediately raised an alarm. The villagers launched ahunt for Bali and eventually, found his body. On being informed, police reached the spot and sent thebody for post-mortem. Acting on information provided by the accused, the policehave also recovered the murder weapons — a brick and aleather belt. PTI CORR RC SKRC
