FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post, and found it to be false.

Running a Reverse Image Search of the video keyframes, the NM team identified a YouTube video on the official channel of Kumudy Global — a media outlet from Kerala, dated November 15, 2021, with a title: Watch: Locals playing football, doing push-ups in gushing waters amid flood| Kanyakumari rains.

As per the video description, the visuals are from Kanyakumari and it has been online since November 2021. there is no way it can be linked to the recent Chennai floods.

We also came across a news article in News18, dated November 16, 2021, carrying the viral video. The banner of the article matches with one of the keyframes of the viral clip, confirming that the location of the video is Kanyakumari.

An embedded Facebook post, too, states that the incident is from Anjugramam in Kanyakumari district.

Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming to show visuals from Chennai amidst the recent flood, is not true.
