With Google keyword search, the NM team found that the video was uploaded on the official YouTube channel of Mirror Now on August 16, 2020. According to the news report, the incident occurred in Kolar district of Karnataka, where a girl was kidnapped in broad daylight. The motive behind the kidnapping was the girl’s rejection of the boy’s marriage proposal.
According to a news report by The News Minute, the incident took place on August 13, 2020. Three boys named Shivshankar, Balaji, and Deepak were involved in the kidnapping of the girl. Shivshankar allegedly orchestrated the kidnapping after the girl rejected his marriage proposal. The kidnappers then took the girl to Tumkur city in Karnataka, where bystanders informed the police.
Thus, it is confirmed that a 3-year-old video of a kidnapping incident in Karnataka is shared as a recent incident from Kerala with a false communal angle.
