Fact Check: Picture Of Ablution Pool At Ajmer Sharif Shared With False Claim

Amid the ongoing Gyanvapi Masjid row, an image of a structure that looks like a fountain is being shared with a claim that people have mistaken the fountain for a Shivling at the Gyanvapi Masjid.

A Facebook user shared the image with a caption in Hindi that translates to, “Blind devotees who are saying there is a  Shivling in ‘Vaju Khana’, that is actually a water fountain which has a hole in the middle !! Considering a water fountain as the Shivling.”

(Original:अंध भक्त वजू खाने मे जिसे शिवलिंग बता रहे हैं असल में वो पानी का फव्वारा है और उसके बीच में एक छेद भी है !!पानी के फव्वारा को भी शिवलिंग समझ रहे हो)

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral image and found it to be shared with a false claim.

On putting the picture in question through Reverse Image Search, we found the same image uploaded on the stock images website ‘Alamy.com‘.

As per the description, the picture was taken in September 2016, at an ablution pool at the Ajmer Sharif dargah in Rajasthan.

With the above information, it can be concluded that the picture in question is being shared with a false claim.
