Fact Check: Post Claiming Kangana Accepts Defeat By Agreeing That Public Comes To See Her, NOT Vote For Her Is Fake

Date:

A video, claiming Kangana Ranaut accepted her defeat in the Lok Sabha elections as the crowd gathered only to see her and not vote for her, is doing the rounds on social media. Many users have mocked Ranaut that the people of Mandi have woken up and wouldn’t support her.

A Facebook user posted the viral post (archive link) with the following caption:
कंगना ने मानी हार…
भीड़ वोट नहीं देगी,सिर्फ देखने आती है…
 लगता है मंडी वालों ने औकात का एहसास करा दिया है ! #KanganaRanaut ..

(English : Kangana accepted defeat…
The crowd won’t vote, they just come to see…
Looks like the people of market have made us realize their status! #KanganaRanaut ..)

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post, and found the claims to be false.

Running a Reverse Image Search of the video keyframes, the NM team identified a report in Punjab Kesari, dated May 2, 2024, informing that Kangana got furious with Vikramaditya and Pratibha Singh in Karsog. She said: “I’m not some beauty fairy from Mumbai.” The video in the report looks like a longer version of the viral clip, saying that Kangana was making the comment while reacting to what Pratibha Singh said about her.

Searching further, we came across another video in an article in ETV Bharat. Here too, we can see Ranaut was criticising Pratibha Singh’s comments against her.

Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming Kangana Ranaut accepted defeat by agreeing that the public comes to see her and not vote for her, is false.
