A post is widely shared on social media claiming that Dalveer Bhandari, a person close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has become Chief Justice of the International Court of Justice.

On searching with appropriate keywords, we found a report published by PIB, dated November 21, 2017. According to the report, “Judge Dalveer Bhandari was re-elected to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) when the UN General Assembly and UN Security Council convened independently in New York on November 20, 2017, to fill the fifth vacancy for the 2018-2027 term.”
We also found that there is no designation of Chief Justice in the ICJ. Instead, it has President, Vice President and 15 member-judge. The website mentions that Judge Dalveer Bhandari was elected as the Member of the Court on 27 April 2012 and re-elected on 6 February 2018.
Hence, we can ascertain that the viral claim is false.
