Amit Mishra in trouble as complainant refuses to withdraw charges

Date:

New Delhi: Nothing’s going right for Indian spinner Amit Mishra. First was the complaint lodged by a woman charging him with molestation. When it looked like he could heave a sigh of relief, the lady said the she would go ahead with the charges.

The woman who lodged a complaint against Amit Mishra now wants the cricketer to appear before the Bengaluru police.

On Thursday, sections of the media had reported that the 34-year-old film producer was to withdraw the case.

However, according to a report in the Hindu, the woman has denied any such thing and wants to confront Mishra before the Ashok Nagar police.

“I won’t withdraw the complaint against Amit (Mishra). I am hurt physically, mentally and emotionally by the cricketer,” she told the newspaper.

Apparently, the leg-spinner who was in touch with her till Wednesday, is now unreachable.

“He knew I was going to the police and kept saying he will come to Bengaluru and sort out the matter. I want Amit to come in front of the police and talk to me,” she further added.

Mishra is set to appear before the police next week when the ongoing ODI series against South Africa ends, sources added.

Mishra was in Bengaluru last month for India’s pre-tour training camp when he had met the woman.

The police had asked Mishra to appear before them in a week’s time.

Mishra was booked under the Indian Penal Code sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 328 (causing hurt with intent to commit an offence).
