The Election Commission of India (ECI) is likely to announce the dates for the Lok Sabha elections in the first week of March, sources said on Friday.
EC is currently in the processes of deciding the number of phases. According to the reports, the elections are likely to be held in 6 to 7 phases.
The election process has to be completed by May as the 16th Lok Sabha ends on June 3. The last Lok Sabha elections in 2014 were held in 9 phases from April 7 to May 12.
Election commission might also hold elections in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh along with the Lok Sabha polls.

While the term of the Sikkim Assembly ends on May 27, 2019, the terms of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Arunachal Pradesh assemblies end on June 18, June 11 and June 1 respectively.
Jammu and Kashmir will also see fresh polls within next six months as the current assembly has been dissolved.
Recently, a message went viral on social media claiming to be polling schedule for the Lok Sabha polls. However, the Chief Electoral Officer on Thursday wrote a letter to the Special Commissioner of Delhi Police’s Technology Cell asking to take action against such fake messages.
