Move over sedentary lifestyle! simple office exercises that can rejuvenate your bones

It’s now a proven fact that the sedentary lifestyle we lead these days is the start of many a diseases, weaknesses and disorders that get developed in due course. It increases the chances of contracting many lifestyle problems, which can hamper our lives completely. Yet, most times, we choose to ignore the signals.

Research says that even if people are not able to find time during their work schedules for exercises, somethings can still be done. Our muscles, bones, back and shoulders can be moved to motion with simple activities. The good part – they can be done within the office walls, your cabin or even on your chair.

So here are a few things you can do.

Stretch your neck

Bend your neck. Try and get the ear as close to the shoulder as you can. Hold for a few seconds; repeat for the other side.

Turn the neck

Towards your right and left, each time holding it for a few seconds.

Rotate the neck

Pretty self-explanatory; chin touches the chest and the heads slowly rolls from one side to another. Remember, slowly. Repeat for the other side too.

Stretch

Your hands interlaced, reach for the ceiling, stretch your body upwards.

Stretch sideways

Extending your right hand, bending it over your head to the left and then stretch. Hold for a bit and then switch sides.

Bend over

Grasp both your ankles; bend your head between your knees and hold for a bit.

Stretch the chest

Take both your hands to the back and grasp, sit up straight and hold for approx. 10 seconds.

Hug your knees

bring them closer to your chest.

Sit against the wall

And without a chair! You do this by standing against the wall and then slowly sliding into a seating position and then holding for a few seconds. Then you straighten up, and repeat.

Apart from these, try a few other simple ways of getting your body to stretch.

  • Find a parking lot, a little away from the office building. That way you can do some walking.
  • Time and again, the importance of this has been highlighted. Take the stairs.
  • Walk when you take calls. Doesn’t pinch yet the body gets into motion.
  • Roll your eyes up and down and then right to left. Takes the stress of focusing on the screen away.

How we shape our lives, is completely in our hands. A little effort and the fruits that get borne are way juicier! So, get into the act, its exercise time!
