Asiad 2018: India bags gold in women’s relay, medal tally at 58

Jakarta: Indian team, comprising Hima Das, Machettira Poovamma, Saritaben Laxmanbhai Gayakwad and Velluva Koroth Vismaya, on Thursday bagged a gold medal in Women’s 4 x 400m Relay event at the ongoing 18th edition of the Asian Games.

The team claimed a top-podium finish after they completed the race within a clock timing of 3:28.72 in the final round.

While Bahrain squad won silver with a clock timing of 3:30.61, Vietnamese athletes settled for bronze as they clocked 3:33:23.

In Sepak Takraw, India lost 0-2 to Thailand in women’s Quadrant Preliminary Group B match while, India’s Zahan Kevic Setalvad and Kaevaan Kevic Setalvad finished on 24th and 36th spot, respectively, in Jumping Individual Equestrian event.

India’s total medal tally at the prestigious tournament now stands at 58-thirteen gold, 20 silver and 25 bronze.
