Congress MP from Assam, Bhubaneswar Kalita on Monday confirmed his resignation from the membership of the Rajya Sabha.
“Yes, I have resigned from the Rajya Sabha today and the resignation has been accepted,” Kalita told ANI.

His resignation came on the heels of the unruly scenes witnessed in the Upper House over the Kashmir issue.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced in Rajya Sabha on Monday that the government has repealed Article 370 of the Constitution which grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
Later in the day today, Jammu & Kashmir Reorganisation Bill, 2019 was passed by Rajya Sabha.
