New Delhi: Heavy rains lashed parts of the national capital on Sunday afternoon, bringing respite to people from heat and humid weather.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall at isolated places over Delhi and adjoining areas on Sunday evening with the possibility of maximum temperatures settling at 27 degrees Celsius and 37 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Meanwhile, the heavy downpour also caused water-logging and traffic snarls in several parts of the city.

According to SAFAR (System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting), the air quality in the city is in the moderate category with an index value of 101.

Besides Delhi, IMD has also predicted extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places over Kerala. It has also predicted thunderstorm accompanied by lightning very likely at isolated places over West Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal and Sikkim.
After morning rains yesterday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 36.7 degrees Celsius. Humidity was recorded at 74 per cent at 8.30 am.
Delhi has recorded 56 mm rains from July 1 to July 16, which is 43 per cent less than the 30-year average of 97.6 mm, weather officials said.
