The reason for the dip in the temperature is the cold wave conditions gushing over the northwestern part of India, and according to the meteorological department, a further fall in temperature is likely until December 22.
While the maximum temperature was 22.3 degrees Celsius, the minimum was 18 degrees Celsius before this year.
Along with Delhi NCR, parts of Punjab and Haryana have also been recording lower temperatures than some hill stations of Himachal Pradesh such as Shimla.

According to the IMD, some parts of North India could see a significant dip in the temperature on Friday at as low as 2 degrees Celsius.
With the relatively high humidity in the air and the dip in the temperature, Delhi on early Friday morning recorded moderate to shallow fog. Chances of dense fog are less for at least the next three to four days.
