A software engineer was arrested after a domestic help who was working in his house was mauled by his seven pet dogs in Sushant Lok, Gurugram. As per the police, the techie was identified as Sharad Agarwal who lives with his seven pet dogs.
The complainant, Pooja, is originally from Madhya Pradesh and currently lives in Gurugram with her husband. According to Pooja, she requested Agarwal to chain or restrain his dogs when she was in his house for cleaning.
In her statement to police, Pooja said Agarwal was at home with the dogs when she reached the house.
“The dogs started barking at me the moment I opened the gate. I requested Agarwal to control them as I was scared they would get aggressive and bite me, but he refused to act. One of the dogs ran towards me after I entered the house and started attacking me. Soon, the other dogs too joined in,” Pooja said as she requested him to help but he ignored her.

The neighbours and other people who heard her cries came to rescue her but by that time she has already suffered many bites and injuries. Agarwal did take her to the hospital but instead sent her home.
“My husband took me to Paras Hospital and informed Agarwal, who visited me in hospital, but he didn’t offer to pay the medical bills. My husband was not in a position to pay the bills, so I was shifted to Civil Hospital,” Pooja said. From there, she was referred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi.“I had been requesting Agarwal not to let his dogs loose while I was in the house as I was not comfortable with them, but he never paid attention to my pleas,” she added.
Her husband approached police on Saturday, three days after the incident where on the basis of her statement an FIR was registered against Agarwal under Section 289 (negligent conduct) of the IPC at Sector 43 police station. He was arrested a day later and would be produced in the court today.
